Monday Course with 12 ak1

Reported Speech

Before we talk about Reported Speech, let's take a look at the types of sentence below: Direct Sentence: an utterance spoken by the speaker directly, for example:

  1. Ana says :"Ouch, my stomach hurts!"
  2. He told us:"I always go to the beach on Sundays last year"
  3. They asked to me:"Were you at home when our younger brother visited you house last night?"
we can change those direct sentences into indirect sentences as follows:
  1. Ana says that her stomach hurts
  2. He told us that he used to go to the beach on Sundays in the previous year
  3. They asked to me whether I had been at home when their younger brother had visited my house the night before tonight
